Tāwhirimātea

... or tawhiri for short, is the latest version of CUSF's balloon flight path prediction software, and will be the result of the work of a small team from the society.

It's currently in development, and will be a pure Python 3 replacement for the current combination of C, PHP, Python and Bash. It consists of the predictor itself, a web application, and a daemon that retrieves wind data. Over the summer of 2013, the old version of the predictor broke due to too much strain on the old source of wind data, so Tawhiri's new wind data downloader has been jury-rigged into the existing code as as temporary solution.
